Career and business mentoring for self-aware creatives, founders, and professionals who want their work to feel more fulfilling and impactful.
A grounded, honest space to make sense of your work.
Emma Brophy is a Melbourne / Naarm-based writer and mentor.
She established Poochie’s Office to support self-aware professionals seeking a more authentic expression of their work.
After spending a decade working within social impact organisations, Emma’s own experience of burnout led her to step away from the traditional path in search of a more sustainable way of working. She brings together her background in systems change work, training in Gestalt therapy, and deep interest in community, creativity and spirituality — shaping a mentoring practice that is authentically hers.
Emma holds the belief that each of us has a unique way of contributing to the collective. Her work is devoted to helping people find freedom in the way they live and create, strengthen self-trust, and strategically build work that regenerates self, community, and planet.
This work tends to resonate with people who:
care deeply about impact, but feel disconnected from their work
are capable and accomplished, yet sense they’re performing a version of themselves
feel pulled toward something more creative, meaningful, or honest
have passion and creative energy, but need support translating their ideas into form
want to make decisions from self-trust rather than expectation
You may not know exactly what’s next, but you know you want your work to reflect you more fully.
Clarity + Confidence
James - Social Enterprise Founder
“As a founder, it’s very easy to work 7 days a week. Emma has been able to remind me through her own leadership journey and insightful questioning that this is not conducive to the long term health of my business. She leads with compassion and understanding, and can distill a coherent strategy from one meandering conversation.”
Karina - Writer and Digital Marketer
“Emma has influenced me to think beyond work and purpose, and reframe this as holistic alignment - I no longer separate work from the rest of my life. She has an effortless way of giving structure to big thoughts and feelings, and turning these into tangible actions.”
Mel - Health Care Worker, Writer and Podcast Host
“As soon as I heard her speak, I knew I needed to connect with her. Emma has been incredibly flexible and thoughtful in how she works. Most importantly, Emma has helped me believe I can create. I’ve always wanted to write, and through her support, I have gained the confidence to share my voice authentically - both personally and professionally.”

Space Holding + Reflection
Emily - Health System Design and Evaluation Specialist
“Emma challenges you, and then supports you while you sit with the uncomfortable feelings that come with opening yourself to change.”
Emi - Educator and Small Business Owner
“Her real skill is in posing questions to help sharpen your vision while her empathy and commitment to a discursive practice avoids the confines of a linear, personality-less corporate approach. She really listens and uses your ideas to help guide the discussion.”
